Forensic medicine department was established in 1990. The main work of our department can be divided into three parts:

　1. teaching: To teach the forensic medicine course for students of the whole school, all of which are 36 hours/semester. Over the years, thousands of students have been trained.

　2. Scientific research: There are two main research directions: (1) Study on the distribution of sedative-hypnotic drugs and diet drugs poisoning in experimental animals and explore accurate and convenient detection methods for animals and human blood, tissues and organs. (2) The application of molecular biology technology in forensic personal identification and paternity testing. Our department has published more than 20 papers and 2 textbooks of forensic medicine.

　3. Forensic expertise:In 2000, with the approval of Tianjin Judicial Bureau, Tianjin Medical University Judicial Medical Accreditation Center, the first forensic medical accreditation institution oriented to social services, was established in Tianjin. We have licensesof forensic clinic medicine and forensic genetics.
