III Training Mode

We adopt the training mode of combining theoretical learning, professional practice and scientific research, and combining supervisor guidance and collective training, focusing on the training of ability.

We implement the laboratory rotation practice system. Postgraduates have filled in their intention to choose supervisors at the stage of re-examination, and the college has also adjusted and confirmed the supervisors after admission. The primary election of supervisors will be conducted after enrollment. In the first semester after enrollment, postgraduates need to select three laboratories (including the laboratories of preselected supervisor) for rotation and fill in the laboratory rotation registration form. The rotation practice time of each laboratory is 6 weeks. The college conducts a comprehensive investigation on the project funding, the number of postgraduates, the progress of the project, and the quality of postgraduate training of the qualified supervisors in the year, and provides a list of recommended laboratories for students to choose. Supervisors can also display their scientific research content in various forms, such as reports or exchanges with students, to provide reference for students to choose rotation laboratories. The supervisors of the three laboratories selected by the postgraduate form a supervisor group to jointly guide the study and research of the postgraduate. After the three rotations, the supervisor is formally determined through two-way selection. If the supervisor has a quota but has not recruited students, or the students do not make a final decision or choose their own ideal supervisors, the college will coordinate the two-way selection of supervisors and students on a voluntary basis.

According to the training objectives of postgraduates, combined with specific research directions, the supervisor group formulates a professional training plan based on the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, and makes specific arrangements for their learning contents, objectives and requirements, completion time, assessment methods, scientific research and dissertation work. On the basis of reading a certain amount of literature, postgraduates should write a literature review, design a project, and then make an opening report to prepare for the research work.

IV Period of Schooling and Schedule

The period of schooling for full-time postgraduates is generally 3 years, half a year for theoretical courses, and two and a half years for teaching and other practical work and dissertation work (including project research and paper writing).

V Curriculum and Credit Requirements

For details, please refer to the Trial Scheme of Credit System for Degree and Postgraduate Education of Tianjin Medical University (Revised Draft). Major courses for postgraduates in this discipline are as follows:

1. Professional basic courses

Comprehensive knowledge and skills of pharmacy 1.5 credits

Experimental technology of tissue culture 2.0 credits

2. Professional elective courses

Elective courses shall be selected according to the research direction under the guidance of the supervisor or supervisor group.

VI Scientific Research and Teaching Abilities (or Clinical Practice)

Postgraduates should complete more than 20 class hours of experimental teaching to guide undergraduate experimental courses or undergraduate clinical practice teaching. Postgraduates should complete the whole process from preparing lessons, teaching to correcting the work.

VII Dissertation

The work of masterdissertation generally starts after the postgraduates have completed the courses specified in the training plan, and generally includes literature reading, review writing, opening report, drafting and implementing work plan, research investigation, experimental research, theoretical analysis and text summary. Specific requirements are as follows:

1. Literature review and experimental design

Postgraduates should extensively consult relevant literature at home and abroad around the topic, write a literature review after analysis and sorting, and complete the experimental design of the dissertation.

2. Opening report

Postgraduates independently write the opening report under the guidance of the supervisor. The opening report defense is presided over by the academic sub-committee of the discipline. In addition to the supervisor and membersof the supervisor group, participants also include other members of the department related to the postgraduate’s project. After the opening report is approved, the postgraduate can conduct the research work of the thesis. At the same time, the postgraduate should fill in the Opening Report for Postgraduates of Tianjin Medical University, and submit it to the Graduate Office for review and filing.

3. Dissertation

Postgraduates independently complete the dissertation research under the guidance of the supervisor. Postgraduates should regularly report the completion of the plan or the existing problems to their supervisors. If the training plan needs to be modified, it must be approved by the supervisor. Dissertation work includes experimental data, data collation, statistics, analysis and paper writing. The dissertation must be a systematic and complete academic dissertation (or one composed of a group of papers). The academic viewpoint must be clear, logical and rigorous, and the text must be smooth. The dissertation must reflect a certain amount of work and be written in Chinese according to the uniform format of the university. Postgraduates should have certain academic achievements during their studies. For specific requirements, see the Implementation Regulations on the Recognition of Academic Achievements of Postgraduates during Term Time by Tianjin Medical University Pharmacy Degree Evaluation Sub-Committee.

4. Dissertation defense

For specific requirements for dissertation defense of postgraduates, see the Implementation Regulations for Dissertation Defense of Postgraduates of Tianjin Medical University.
